I have found. Editing an existing post is not posting a new blog no matter how extensive the edit. Even to the point changing the title, image and content completely. The original post date remains the same.
The word press blog in question was not publicised until recently. However the Indians found it, from it's birth. Every few days there are various forms of spam waiting to be moderated. Some sarcastic comments, comments that are relevant to any content, at other times the lack of content. If allowing such comments to appear under a post I suggest altering their web address. Unless you want to drive traffic to their escort site.
That said spammers from India most regularly do very polite & often extensive fictional tales as spam. If it was less frequent or repetitive it would be a pleasure to read.
